A sadistic and enthusiastic hangman, James Billington had a prolific career as a professional executioner – claiming one subject even admitted to being Jack the Ripper before he silenced the man forever. At the height of his powers, Billington traveled throughout England, executing up to 12 victims in a single year. His grisly perfection was carried on by his three sons and his great grandsons pursued similar occupations around spectacle – as professional wrestlers.
